John Pisano with Mundell Lowe @Spazios 07.08.08

Ho Hum. Another night of perfectly executed music by two masters of guitar. With the always timely Jim Hughart on bass, and the well a-tuned Tim Pleasant on drums, John Pisano and guest Mundell Lowe joined together for an evening of tasteful tunes, seasoned to perfection. Lowe’s cool toned strings, on songs like “Gone With The Wind”, or on the acapella intro to “Rose Room” was like a ballet artist dancing across the floor; completely elegant and light. On swinging tunes like “I Remember You” and “I Got Rhythm, the two gents were able to playfully spar during their solos, with Pisano strumming support during Lowe’s pickings, and Lowe returning the favor with supple arpeggios as a foundation to the leader’s single note runs. Closing with a laid back “If I Had You”, the band made the sophisticated seem mundane and the impossible easy. There are few places better to spend a Tuesday night. Come in, and get a few lessons.
