Jon Foreman
Summer Ep
Credential Recordings
By George W. Harris

Singer/songwriter Jon Foreman is better known as one of the founding members of the popular indie group Switchfoot (a surfing term for those of you not from the Pacific Coast). As a solo artist, he’s release a quartet of Eps , Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. Summer, his latest, is a 6 song collection of quite creative musical environments mixed with penetrating and thoughtful lyrics. “A Mirror Is Harder To Hold” mixes street folk with a melancholy quasi Mariachi waltz, while “Resurrect Me” drinks from the Sgt Pepper/India milieu created by George Harrison. “Again” and “Deep In Your Eyes” feature some stark vocals contrasted with Tin Pan Alley upright piano tunings. Lots of interesting ideas floating around this release.
