Vicky Emerson
Long Ride

Vicky Emerson is a singer/songwriter who has a jazz/folk feel to her
voice and piano playing. She’s put out a handful of releases before;
this one leans quite a bit towards the country/folk sound you might
hear at McCabe’s on a Friday night. Her earthy voice has a chestnut
warmth to it, and the tunes like “County Line” and the title track have
a lazy bluesy-ness to them. Matt Patrick does the yeoman’s job of
supplying acoustic guitar with a plethora of instruments like dobro,
hammered dulcimer, Wurlitzer and banjo to give accents and atmosphere
to “Lazy Day” and “Ferris Wheel.” Sort of a Norah Jones hitting the
Cumberland gap, rocking on the easy chair.
