I believe that this is the debut release by Nick Stefanacci, and it’s quite ambitious. He leads the band, writes the tunes, and plays alto, tenor, soprano, flute, keyboard as well as singing a bit. The band includes a snapping horn section as well as Kenny Simmons on lead vocals. The material has that 70s R&B feel to it-danceable in the AWB vein. Some nice sax soloing is done by Frank Elmo on “Why Did I See You” as well as some guitar licks by Walter Stefanacci on “Don’t Know Why?” with Nick laying down on a nice one on the lone instrumental “2 Angels.” Sort of a modern Stax set, and nothing wrong with that.
