Sinatra: Best Of The Best
Capitol/Reprise Records
www.franksinatra.com
By George W. Harris
This single
cd set is the first time Sinatra’s two major career labels
got together to put his best material together. Hard to argue with a
23 song selection that includes stuff like “In The Wee Small Hours”
and
“I’ve Got You Under My Skin.” As for the latter, I dare
you to try to
sing along with Blue Eyes, and match him breath for breath. You’ll
see
in one try why he was incomparable. He had lungs that could sing longer
than anyone else before coming up for air. Swinging tunes like “Fly
Me
to the Moon” as well as those lovely cascading reeds on “Summer
Wind”
will make you eventually want everything he ever put out, but this is
a
great place to start.
