Singer Pascalito
describes himself as “Mediterranean by heart, Parisian by birth,
New Yorker by choice, Latin by soul,” which is a pretty good summary
of this sophomore release. Singing in both English and French, Pascalito
mixes bossa nova grooves with chanson, bohemian folk and latin pop on
this wide ranging and slick release. At times, such as “Tango do
Non Retour,” he seems to want to come across as the next big Latin
American pop star, while on “La Citrouille de la Toussaint”
he sounds like he’s strolling through the narrow side streets of
the Left Bank. Some wonderful violin work by Sarina Suno on some tunes
like “Dans Mon Ile” feel like your listening to an impressionistic
painting, while Jessica Medina’s vocals on “La Pluie su ta
Peau” have a World Pop sensibility. Purposely trying to reach as
many diverse ears as possible, Pascalito makes a disc sound like an indie
radio station.
