Paul McCartney
The Love We Make
Eagle Vision dvd

By George W. Harris
This 94 minute
documentary focuses on an intriguing part of not only
Paul McCartney, but also of our country. McCartney was in NYC on the
day of the 9-11 terrorist attacks, and this dvd covers his and
America’s reaction to those horrid events. His return to the city
that
he initially visited in 1964 with The Beatles turned into a healing for
the city by headlining a Concert for New York City that channel VH1 had
scheduled for Madison Square Garden.
Mostly filmed
in documentary-styled black and white, the film shows
many rehearsals (with McCartney in fantastic voice) as well as
McCartney’s iconic popularity, as he works through fans, autograph
hustlers, sycophants, vegan gold diggers, celebrities from Howard Stern
to Barbara Walters, and various all star musicians like Clapton and
Bowie. More than anything else, it shows McCartney as a genial bloke,
one who would’ve been content playing in obscure cabaret clubs had
it
not been for God’s Providence to put him in a spotlight where he
could
shape the culture for the better.
